Compilation of morphological, mineralogical and chemical data on soil development has distinguished several types of soils. The major soils identified and described include ferrallitic soils, ferruginous tropical soils, vertisols, semi-arid tropical soils, and hydromorphic soils. Their formation and their evolution depend on climate and paleoclimate actions, parent materials, vegetation, and geomorphology. Some aspects of the pedogenesis process are also discussed. Three new methods of investigation used by researchers: Potassium—argon, gold mineralogy, and cosmogenic beryllium allow dating chemical and weathering processes and also led to a quantification of geochemical and mechanical processes in this area. The modern climate has an impact on soils. All these types of soils are experiencing secondary pedogenic processes such as rejuvenation, and especially reworking to some extent by water or wind erosion, giving rise to younger soils. Rapid disturbance through reworking leads to induration and armouring.

Allegro-Presto During the 18th and the 19th centuries, compositional theories asserted that certain key signatures represented particular characteristics. Written in , the sonata can be considered the first of the monumental works for the violin-piano duo literature. Significantly, of the seven instrumental works that Beethoven was writing during the same period, the Sonata Op. The mood represented by this key seems suited to the inner turmoil that Beethoven must have felt as he became increasingly aware of the realities of his impending deafness.
The emotional climate for the entire piece is definitively set in the fateful opening. The impetuous momentum, the sudden turning of corners, and the tragic sonority combine with tuneful, and at times playful, sections, to create not a disarray of differences but a work of epic proportion with great power and cohesiveness.
The sonata begins with rather understated dynamics and mysterious octaves.

The Fox Trot apparently has secured a sure place as a dance, probably because it is so easy to execute and requires so little knowledge for the dance beginner. At the same time it offers unlimited opportunities for grace and rhythm to the adepts in the art of terpsichore.

Most of these exercises are already known, but that which has not yet been practiced, and which truly charms experts is the agility, flexibility and nobility of Mr. Astley’s son, a young man 17 years old with attractive proportions and the loveliest face in the world, and dancing with infinite grace on horses running at high speed. He mainly performs the Devonshire minuet, the composition of Sigr. Vestris during the great choreographer’s stay in London in ; and it is said that he performs it as precisely and nobly as the French dancer on stage, that he has infinitely more aplomb.
Vestris was curious to see him, and could not help agreeing that he would never have believed such a prodigy possible if he had not seen him. And so here is a theatre where you are free from mistakes in French, from plays on words, where you are not forced to listen, where you can chat with a neighbour, where you are not suffocated as by other dramatic dampers: What could be more pleasant? The only drawback we could find is that there are no backrests behind the benches.
But, after all, they are not necessary, as nobody wishes to sleep. One could say that it is always the same white horse running in circles with a man standing on one foot.

Pastoral theology, which embraces liturgy, homiletics, and catechetics, proceeded from, and bears close relationship to, moral theology; its dependence on dogmatic theology needs, therefore, no further proof.
Acclaimed by the press numerous awards , and by the public more than , copies sold since , these recordings have succeeded at last in rehabilitating Antonio Vivaldi, known always for his brilliant concertos, as one of the greatest operatic composers of all time. Now here is a truly exceptional event: L’Orlando finto pazzo, RV Already known as a knockout composer for violin, Vivaldi clearly had no intention of disappointing those who admired him for his string writing just because he was becoming a composer of operas–and anyone listening to Orlando finto pazzo will have to notice the virtuoso string playing in addition to the outrageous demands made on the singers.
Argillano’s first aria, sung with amazing speed and subtlety by mezzo Manuela Custer, ends with a violin cadenza that’s so remarkable that the audience at the time must have been left as we are breathless. The next aria, for Grifone countertenor Martin Oro , is accompanied only by mellow pizzicato strings that seem almost like subconscious movements as the singer quickly and deftly describes a bee flitting from flower to flower, making honey

History of Technology Heroes and Villains – A little light reading Here you will find a brief history of technology. Initially inspired by the development of batteries, it covers technology in general and includes some interesting little known, or long forgotten, facts as well as a few myths about the development of technology, the science behind it, the context in which it occurred and the deeds of the many personalities, eccentrics and charlatans involved.

Background We think of a battery today as a source of portable power, but it is no exaggeration to say that the battery is one of the most important inventions in the history of mankind. Volta’s pile was at first a technical curiosity but this new electrochemical phenomenon very quickly opened the door to new branches of both physics and chemistry and a myriad of discoveries, inventions and applications.
The electronics, computers and communications industries, power engineering and much of the chemical industry of today were founded on discoveries made possible by the battery.
